Forming a Conscious Community/Eco-Village

I PUT A DC ADDRESS ON BUT WE CAN HAVE OUR MEETINGS ANYWHERE IN THE METRO AREA-RIGHT NOW I LIVE IN SPRINGFIELD BUT intend to BE MOVING TO A CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY in Metro accesible MD before AUGUST 09 !

It may start out as a Conscious Co-housing/Art work and exhibition space situation in town then eventually move into a Eco-Village of seperate homes but shared fields and aid in the work load! We can all decide that together! If both happens the farm can supply the city aspect with produce and the city aspect can be our business and art sales center...make it kinda nice the synchronicity!!

A bit about your organizer..
Hi I'm Sandy-
I was raised on an organic,off grid,self sufficient back to the land farm -my parents were highly educated Hippies without the long hair and drugs!
I homeschooled my 3 children to graduation and bake bread,do sprouting and live a very cash only simple lifestyle.
I make my living as an artist/holistic healer and psychic reader...yeah a big ole happy woo-woo!

My intention is to get back to the Land and be part of a Eco- Village in the MD or VA countryside.
Am open as well to an Urban Homestead and Conscious Community for a few years.

If anyone here is interested in Conscious Community Co-housing /renting a large home and land together let me know!!We would need to be able to have garden space and live an environmentally sound,frugal ,simplified lifestyle.Pet and family friendly.I have pets and my 23 year old still lives at home

Vision....

To start off in the City Conscious Community
I see a large eco-friendly apt building with the lower floor being coffee shop,cafe,organic produce store & convenience store and bakery ,green dry cleaner and art gallery/holistic healing center.This would bring in alot of foot traffic and also provide income producing opps.for artists til their ship comes in.. Then there would be nice studio apts but as well on the roof a garden and the top floor community space for gatherings,shared work space...we will need investors and ones with a LOT more knowledge than me to get it going.. I am a Kick A networker and have alot of drive.. but this WILL take a team ...

In the Country Eco-village
I see each person having their own eco-friendly home and small yard and garden and having group fields and community building for regular meals and gatherings! A community food preservation kitchen would be ideal as well!

The group I intend to attract will be diverse,non judgemental and open minded to all people..of any ethnicity,religion or not ,meat eaters or not,any sexual orientation ... you can smoke,drink and cuss..within the walls of your own homes this group will not seek to contain you!!..

In common areas of course we will have to have a spirit of love and cooperation!

Just folks who choose a simpler lifestyle,want to live organically and with a soft footprint on the Earth,want to be self sufficient,get off grid or at least mostly off grid..many of us will be artists,writers,crafters,natural healers,builders and such..all of us of course are VISIONARIES!
I am seeking a community of nice ,easy to get along with folks who want that romantic ideal but are hard working and grounded in reality! The work is not easy and nature is not always convenient or comfortable!

If you look at Earthhaven Eco Village near Asheville NC -it is a great model!I lived near there and always admired the community they were building!

My intention is to be out of the city within 6 months to at most a year.Unless of course an Urban Homestead is formed!

I actually have a model of a home I want to work out with someone smarter than me-for water recycling,heat,growing food and being very comfy while being eco-friendly! Perhaps we can partner up to build these models

I propose regular potluck dinners to brainstorm and support our common vision!
